The Villa itself is built in the Spanish Colonial style, and characterised by arches, open spaces, and courtyards - all surrounded by a large garden. Walk up the grand staircase, and you’re treated with a surprise: a large outdoor swimming pool sits on the first level, with fantastic views of the sea.
The home has history to it, and has been Jim’s haunt one way or another for decades now. And with that comes a familiarity and comfort with the space that new home-owners find it difficult to achieve: every corner here has a memory attached to it, every tree a story. There’s a strong theme of preservation here as well; the home has been lovingly cared for by Jim and his family, and it’s seen in the way paint on the woodwork and paint on the walls shine with lustre.
This is an open home, not just in the way the architecture of the space works (wide open spaces, large arches, a blending of the outside with the inside), but in the way Jim treats his guests: this is a home for people, not home just for a person.
