Known as Captain Fantastic, Sunil Chhetri’s home is his sanctuary nestled away in Bangalore’s most famous pin code – 560001. Play centre forward and invite yourself to possibly the most charming home in Asian Paints Where The Heart Is where India’s humble yet hungry captain takes you on an unforgettable tour of his humble abode.
Sunil Chhetri is a demanding man. Of himself mostly. He lives by example for his team and the country. And yet there is a soft, almost boy-like innocence and dedication in his eyes even as he opens the home for the very first time to Asian Paints Where The Heart Is. This Bengaluru nest is his safety net and he enjoyed setting up every corner of it with his beautiful wife Sonam Chhetri (who happens to be his coach’s daughter!)
The living room has an open island kitchen which has a rather unique characteristic. The island, instead of being isolating, is so inviting that everyone around the house eventually gathers here which makes it pretty much the centre of the house. The living, dining and kitchen space flows into one another. The bedrooms and study are separate and have a distinct character of their own.
The kitchen garden and the deck with its Mediterranean feel, facing the master bedroom is our favourite. The study with its throne like winged chair is Sunil’s den and doubles up as office space. What started as empty shelves eagerly awaiting to be filled up has become crowded with trophies by the second highest active goal scorer in the international football, next only to Cristiano Ronaldo.
Chhetri’s passion lies in fitness and eating right. Almost seeing it as a sense of duty, he doesn’t shy away from lending advice to whoever meets him. His wife Sonam is part of that list as well, and lovingly gives in to his routine. The fit couple have similar taste when it comes to colours and décor, and take pride in co-creating this home where their heart is.
