Situated in the hipster heart of Mumbai, Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem’s home welcomes you with a holy verse for abundance and safety gifted by their mother. Their upbringing is seeped in tradition that was anything but conventional. Saqib fondly referring to his big sister as the matriarch, the one who pretty much holds the house together, is proof of exactly that. The cheerful home is a reflection of both their personalities easily slipping into their spaces – separate and common. Bright and breezy, this delightful apartment boasts of a large terrace gifted with sunlight and greenery around it.
Combination of vintage and distressed-look furniture, collected by Huma over the years, adorns the home. Not necessarily driven by practicality, they have picked up almost everything in the house instinctively. Be it the dining table (it has a funny story) or the winged chair, each one has a story to tell and an anecdote to be shared. When they are not travelling for work, they love to lounge about at home, playing board games or spending time with their adorable 5-year old Labrador.
Unassuming and very house proud, Huma will take you on a tour around her cosy home while Saqib plays the bratty younger brother and pulls her leg on just about everything. There is no sibling rivalry here, in fact, their sibling camaraderie is visibly evident in their conversations and their home.
